As Neil deGrasse Tyson said, “When you are a kid, you are born a scientist.” What better way to help fuel that inborn passion for science than joining us for our 1st annual SDSquared STEM-A-Palooza!  On Saturday, May 20th, we will be celebrating the wonderful accomplishments of our students with a STEM festival and fundraiser that includes building challenges, STEM demonstrations and more…all designed to ignite that spark!

Our STEM-A-Palooza will be a public event where stem enthusiasts of all ages will get to watch science demonstrations, hear speakers and conduct experiments. In addition, they will have the option to participate in three different challenges:

1.      Spaghetti and Marshmallow Challenge – teams will be given 15 minutes to try and build the tallest tower;

2.     Paper Clip SailBoat Challenge – teams will have 15 minutes to build a paper sailboat that will travel the farthest and carry the most cargo;

3.     PomPom Cannon Challenge – teams will have 15 minutes to design a cannon out a Styrofoam cup and that can fire a pom pom accurately at a target.

Also, we are looking for sponsors and companies wishing to participate in this evenT! All proceeds will go towards supporting our mission in helping students with dyslexia reach their full potential.  If you are interested in sponsoring or becoming a vendor for the event, please click here!
